"I Play The Notes As They Are Written, But It Is God Who Makes The Music." - J.S. Bach

If music makes the world go around, then First Congregational Church is spinning. The FCC Music Ministry is built on a rich tradition of excellence and provides a powerful form of expression that enhances the spiritual journey of everyone in the church. One question we often receive is how could we have so many participants in our choirs in this day and age; what makes the program work so well?

The answer is found in how FCC’s music program is structured. FCC’s music staff and volunteers work hard to make the music program a fun and rewarding experience for children and adults. From there the mission is to develop each person’s musical, vocal and ringing skills as well as nurture spiritual growth. Each choir focuses on ways to develop, at age-appropriate levels:

1.  Good singing, ringing and music reading skills.

2. An appreciation of quality music from a wide variety of composers and traditions.

3. Christians values and responsibilities as students learn about their faith as well as about stewardship by sharing their time and talents with their congregation and greater community through worship and outreach concerts & tours.

At First Congregational Church a choir exists for every age group from birth through adult so that:

1.  Entire families can participate in the music program if they wish, providing opportunities for each family member to nurture their musical and spiritual growth while serving others.

2. By starting with our youngest children and planting the seeds of music early, an impressive harvest is yielded by the time those children reach high school. Most of the members of the high school Alleluia Sound Choir and Good Vibrations Bell Choir participated in the younger children’s music programs at FCC. In fact, we now have 2nd generation members – children of alumni singing with us in our programs.
