2026 Tour – Welcome Home Concert
The Alleluia Sound High School Choir and the Good Vibrations Handbell Choir from the First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake, IL, present their 54th Annual Spring Concert Tour April 17-20, 2026.
This year’s tour begins with Youth Music Sunday at the 10am service at First Congregational Church (FCC) in Crystal Lake on April 12, 2026, where the choir members will share selections from their upcoming tour for their congregation. The choirs will depart Friday, April 20, to perform at several different locations during the four-day period beginning that evening with a 7:30pm concert at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Oak Park, Illinois. Sunday, they will share music during worship services at Christ Church UCC in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. On Monday morning, they will perform for an area school and then conclude their tour back in Crystal Lake with their “Welcome Home Concert” on Monday, April 20, at 7:30pm in FCC’s sanctuary. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free to all performances.
The choirs are directed by Ann Tucker, Director of Music and accompanist is Dr. Andrei Liquer. The choirs are made up of students ages 14-18 from Crystal Lake Central High School, Crystal Lake South High School, Prairie Ridge High School, McHenry West High School and Woodstock High School. In addition to providing weekly music at their church’s worship services, they prepare a variety of musical selections for their annual tour.
Alleluia Sound will perform the “Rhythm of Life” from Cy Coleman’s 1966 Broadway show “Sweet Charity,” “Blessings” by Laura Story and arranged by Heather Sorenson and “I Believe” written by Mark Miller with an anonymous text found written on a wall in a concentration camp after WWII. They will also perform the exquisite “Ave Verum Corpus” by W.A. Mozart and “Joyful, Joyful” a modern arrangement by Tim Hayden of Beethoven’s beloved 9th Symphony melody will also be shared. Alleluia Sound will also sing an original composition, “Knock And The Door Will Be Opened,” written in 1997 by Tom Vos to commemorate the choir’s 25th anniversary. Vos, a composer and professional violinist, grew up in Crystal
Lake, attending Crystal Lake Central High School and singing in the FCC Choirs from preschool through his high school graduation in 1988. This song is now considered a signature piece for the choir.
Good Vibrations Bell Choir will play “Timbrel and Dance” by Kevin McChesney, “Call to Celebration” by David Angerman, “Jubilation Fanfare” by Sandra Eithun, and “Abide with Me” by Wiiliam Henry Monk and arranged by Jason Krug. The two choirs will also share the traditional “Bell Boogie” as well as “This Little Light”. The five decades strong FCC high school choir tradition is evident during this song when alumni of the choir are invited to join along in singing.
